I'm out here in the Pacific Northwest to check out the summer ski camps that operate on the Blackcomb Glacier in Whistler for the summer months. It's a first visit to the area for me and I'll be out here for the next 14 days or so. I'm going to hopefully post everyday of the trip. Enjoy! - Dan Day 1 ~ Flying out of Boston early yesterday morning, with a connection in Atlanta, I got into Seattle by mid afternoon local time and took the Light Rail Train (which is a bitch to walk to thru the terminal with 250 lbs of gear) down to the K2 Sports offices to meet up with friend & Line Skis guru Josh Malczyk whose place I was crashing at for the evening. The K2 HQ, which houses the offices for all it's brands, is huge! I definitely enjoyed the peek behind the scenes. I set up a remote camera near a pair of nesting Great Crested Flycatchers near a birdhouse. Here's the result.
Switching gears here for the summer season...No more skiing until my trip West to Hood & Whistler in July. Until then, enjoy my non skiing related shoots. LewSounds - Musician & Producer.

Here's a couple of frames from my Holga camera ( a $25 plastic toy camera loved by photo hobbyist & hipsters alike) that I shot on my way down to a destination wedding. The wedding, which took place in Tulum, Mexico, was a quick flight to Cancun from Boston via Baltimore. With all my professional gear stored in the overhead, I enjoyed the chance to play around with the little medium format camera. Enjoy. While sorting through photos from this past season's work and seeing the amount of fun my friends and I had during the numerous trips, it's easy to forget that being a professional in the industry does require a large amount of work. Photos like these, taken while I was traveling with Salomon FreeskiTV, remind me of the dedication these athletes (and filmers) have... Click here to read the full entry. Headed to Brighton, Utah this past week to shoot the Line Team in next year's gear for their website. In addition to on hill antics, we had some off hill hilarity in sue at the rental house where I set up a sweep to photograph the athletes. Here's Max Hill. Click here to see the photos.

Beginning with men & women?s superpipe finals under bluebird skies on Wednesday, the field of 29 women and 45 men took to the 16-foot pipe like a Toyota, just pedal to the metal. With the age of the competitors ranging from 7 to 18, it was clear from the start that the level of talent would be varied, but the one constant was the drive of each athlete to put together their best of two runs with hopes of getting on the podium. Despite the 2:00 a.m. wake up & departure from Cape Cod, I was pretty excited for most of the 3 hr 20 min drive to get up to my home resort and shoot the sunrise atop North Peak. If I had a bucket list, riding to the summit of Loon in a snowcat would be crossed off now.
