Inaugural Dumont Cup Down: T Wall Wins!

Newry, Maine (April 11, 2009)- Just as the winter season comes to a close, Simon Dumont hosted the inaugural Pro/Am Jam Competition - The Dumont Cup - at his home mountain Sunday River in Maine on April 11, 2009. Amateur Skiiers throughout the country turned out for a chance to compete alongside Simon Dumont and other Professional Skiers, such as TJ Schiller, Peter Olenick, Jossie Wells and Tom Wallisch. The original course, designed by Dumont himself, featured 68 Amateurs participating in a slopestyle course with jumps that Simon hand-selected to include in the three-hit run.   It started with a creative twist on a Table Top jump that flows right into a Quarter Pipe, and was followed up with a custom rail element. The contest took place in the Rocking Chair Terrain Park near Barker Lodge a year to the date of when Simon achieved the world record of highest air for a skier on a quarter pipe. Simon hopes the recognition gained by his world record and The Dumont Cup will help further the sport of freestyle skiing.

We took some laps through the slopestyle course to familiarize ourselves with the features. At the end of the day, there [...]

Red Bull Tricky Roulette

This just in from our comrades in the heart of Europe, the Czech Republic, the Red Bull Tricky Roulette event went off like it was high stakes in Monaco. The Red Bull Tricky Roulette event is a typical slopestyle comp on the surface, but in reality the riders are spinning the wheel and throwing the dice to determine what tricks they need to throw to advance to the next round. The gambling element is definitely there and everyone says you need a bit of luck to win this event. Congrats to Robin Houlub, who took the purse and first place. Check out the full report here, and check out the video below!
