This rowdy group of skiers is coming off their biggest movie project yet, Thirsty, and shows no plans of slowing down any time soon as long as the hard partying antics and urban heaters keep the fans pumped and the haters hating.

Looking back at the 2013-14 season, it seems impossible to recount everything that went down. There were moments of triumph as well as instances of defeat. As a result, this piece focuses on the here-and-there of our operation from my perspective. It is a series of recollections from the months of December to July, ones which I believe to be a truthful representation of our season as a whole.

"I’ve learnt a few things the last few months; Life goes on and how we want it to go on is a choice and even if we want to escape, there is no-where to escape so we might as well make right now awesome." Andreas' words have never rung more true following his death in an avalanche in Chile yesterday. RIP

Resorts are closing and it's time to put the jumps and rails away in that old shed where they keep the moguls. Competition season is done, and for a small bit of time we can escape words like training, Olympics, and amplitude. We survived the Olympics, and save for a few blown knees and blown medal dreams the sport of skiing didn't implode, and the man didn't steal our souls.

The last hurrah of the competition season got underway today with the kickoff of the World Ski Invitational here in Whistler BC. 60 competitors, a mix of tired vets, hungry young guns and hungover skiers took to the slopestyle course attempting to join the 20 prequalified skiers in Sunday's semifinals and finals, with only the top five skiers advancing from each of the two heats of 30.

When someone mentions the PNW, what comes to mind? The Space Needle, rainy weather, coffee, evergreen trees, and flannel all make the short-list. Add slopestyle skiing and snowboarding and you have the second edition of the Northwest Flannel Cup at Stevens Pass.
