Technical Difficulties
Sorry, The Wisconisn Skier was experiencing technical difficulties.
Sorry, The Wisconisn Skier was experiencing technical difficulties.
One of the ski-related tasks I have been meaning to take on and do since the close of last ski season is to maintain my skis more diligently, or more like it to maintain them at all. Last spring I took my first crack at it by sharpening my edges. However, I did not quite [...]
Yesterday, I noted on myself skiing fast and pushing myself to ski faster. A few things must be noted about that effort. Even when out of control, I was in control I am not trying to be cute here. I was at times in a tight tuck and schussing the fall line. When you are [...]
Not too long ago I saw a note referring the reader to a website on tips to ski cheaply. That note triggered a thought stream and the river flows out of skiing on the cheap to how skiing is popularly thought as an activity for the rich but also as one for the dirt poor. [...]
Editor’s Note: Bubby Natas is my evil twin and a column by “Bubby Natas” will express thoughts against the side I take. Essentially the con thoughts against the position I mulled before taking a side. Mark has graciously allowed me to write a piece on the Sunshine Village labor brawl. I do not agree with [...]
Essentially, the criticism is sillier than Red Panda's comment and that criticism in summary is: How dare you speak of volunteer ski patrollers in the same breath as professional ones.
Oh too funny. My piece on the labor fiasco at the Sunshine Ski Village received a lot of attention because the Facebook group: Support Ski Patrol Wronged by Sunshine Ski Resort noticed it and this led to two reactions, one of which I discuss here. Red Panda castigates myself for my notions that volunteer patrollers [...]
Sunshine Ski Village of Banff in Alberta Canada is having PR and labor problems. The Calgary Sun notes: The son of Sunshine Village owner Ralph Scurfield being told he couldn?t ski out of bounds was the catalyst to the firing of four employees, a wrongful dismissal suit claims. The legal action, filed in Calgary Court [...]
Normally, you expect a review to focus on ski gear at a ski website. Jackets, skis, boots, poles, goggles, etc. However, this is going to be about a software application entitled My Tracks. My Tracks is a mobile application for Android platformed devices. I turned the application on this weekend to see what it could [...]
Tonight I coin a new ski term: Fluffencrud. Check it out and tell everyone where you first heard it!
One thing I noticed this last Saturday when skiing in the fluffencrud was when transitioning to my new edge set the ski that was transitioning to the outside would often catch its outside edge.
Was fantastic. Skied both Saturday January 29 and Sunday January 30, 2011. The skiing was for the most part fantastic. Lots of new snow, the crowd was not too large, and the lift lines tolerable or better. We arrived at the resort on Saturday and were greeted by five coach or school buses in the [...]

No, this is not a football site, but it is about Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. As you may know the Green Bay Packers beat the Chciago Bears this weekend in Soldier Field for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. I have a number of ski-network friends from the Chicago land [...]
I do not have a whole lot of experience on multimedia rich content, but it makes sense that multimedia is not going to be of great help with your general SEO. However, one of the recurring themes we see in discussions on SEO involve words. A client of mine recently asked me to redo their [...]
I received a comment today: And before you flag this for being an ?ad,? the site is all free ? there?s no charge for anything and we?re not tryin? to make a buck off anyone. We?re just a group of concerned riders, skiers, boarders, etc. who?ve had our stuff jacked too. Actually, I could care [...]
By broken windows I mean the economic fallacy many fall for that destruction of property is good for the local economic scene. That is, when someone has their windows broken the victim must hire carpenters, window makers, glass makers, etc to replace the broken windows and that contributes to the economic prosperity of a community. [...]
