Tom Wallisch is first return guest to The Powell Movement and there’s a reason for that…..He’s Tom Wallisch…..He sits on the board of directors for the US Ski and Snowboard Team, he’s all about giving back to the sport, he’s a living legend, and even as he’s gotten older, he’s kept his finger on the pulse of all ski media, while continuing to create his own. Wallisch always makes for an interesting conversation. Callum Pettit’s early life was spent in the shadows of his little brother’s pro ski career. While the brothers were a package deal for sponsors, Sean Pettit was the draw. Eventually, Cal and Sean’s sponsorship paths went separate ways, which left Cal figuring out what was next. Which was new sponsors and a blue collar career compared to Sean’s white collar lifestyle. Throughout it all, there was never any drama between Cal and Sean and it’s cool to hear the story from both sides. This podcast is Cal’s version. Anna Segal is on the show this week. I've known Anna for a long time, I singed her to K2, and when I know people, the podcasts can get personal and more fun than usual. This is the case with my chat with Anna.
Aaron Blunk has been competing since he was 8 years old. When he was 10, he left the junior division, went to the open class, beat everyone and watched his much older competition leave the competition scene because he was so young and good. His career progressed to moving away from home to focus on the dreamof being a pro skier and he’s made that dream come true. His story, along with some great Inappropriate Questions from fellow Olympian, Lyman Currier, make this a fun listen. Aaron Blunk Show Notes 2:00: He’s on fire this year, Peter Olenick, and Crested Butte 10:00: Getting into skiing, competing and his dad 19:45: Evo: The best online experience in action sports with retail to back it up RESQWATER (enter the code resqwatertpm for a 20% discount on a 12 pack) 21:30: How did he end up a halfpipe skier, recruited to Ski Club Vail and Junior Olympics 32:00: Armada, Head and other sponsors 40:00: First X-Games, Willie Borm, and training 47:00: The US Ski Team and what they do 52:00: Spy Optics: Get 20% off on their site Spyoptic.com using the code TPM20 The 10 Barrel Brewery: My favorite is 'Out of Office' Pilsner 53:40: The Sochi season 63:00: 2017 is the year of his life, being tough and the Korea Olympics 64:30: Inappropriate Questions with Lyman Currier
