East Vail Avalanche Kills Grandson of Vail's Co-Founder

This week Vail Valley is mourning the loss of Tony Seibert, grandson of Vail co-founder Pete Seibert, who died yesterday after being caught in an avalanche in the East Vail Chutes area that also swept away the three other members of his party, including professional skier Rebecca Selig. One other member of the party was injured as well, and the group required assistance of a search and rescue team to navigate the victims through the area’s tricky terrain.

Potential Development Plans for SSV

Following the fire in the main chalet building in April 2012, Sheffield Ski Village has fallen into a state of disrepair. So much so, that earlier this year, the city council threatened to take legal action against the site’s owner Mr Pullan, declairing SSV an eyesore due to excessive fly-tipping. Over the past two years, there have been many murmours as to what will become of the site. However only earlier this week Mr Pullan has announced that he is in the process of putting together preliminary plans for a 70-house development on the site.
