My first glimpse of this unit was just prior to Christmas. Obviously Canon was mighty proud of it and, despite the Yuletide pressures, was keen to show it off, guarded by a raft of non-disclosure tie-ups. For some years now the G series has been the company’s compact camera tour de force, beginning with the [...]Post originally from: Digital Photography Tips. Window Street Photography ~ Try Something New And Grow!

Mar 17th 2012 - 0 comments

Street photography is so exciting – the searching and waiting for just the right moment when a story unfolds in a single frame. I love the surprise and randomness of candid shots, but once in a while I will ask complete strangers if I can make a street portrait of them if I see something [...]Post originally from: Digital Photography Tips. Riding for DaKine obviously has its benefits… cosy gloves and more travel lugage than even Mariah Carey and her lecherous entourage could use are the first that spring to mind. Cartel Team rider JNorm recently experienced another benefit when DaKine sent him to the Billabong Attack event in Japan. During a day off Justin got [...]

The first week of our summer Instagram contest was overwhelming to say the least. With 800+ photos submitted from all around the world, choosing just one proved difficult. For the first round it had to be broken down in a few different categories, all of who will be winning  a summer prize pack. There is [...]

Randolph Green - A Celebration of Life (with Beer Goggles!) This Sunday at Squatters

by schmuck
Mar 16th 2012 - 0 comments

This week our good friend Randolph Green passed away after a battle with cancer. In keeping with Randolph's spirit of laughing through the pain, and never taking life too seriously, we are having a get together in his honor this Sunday from 5-8pm at Squatters in Salt Lake City. We'll be providing the food, the bar will be open, and we're going to laugh the tears away with stories and photos of one of the best people we've ever known.

The past 2 weeks I’ve been taking it easy due to a minor shoulder injury. It’s been tough because the weather has been perfect for park. To keep my shredding to the minimum that my little will power will allow on such days, I have been bringing my camera out a bunch more. A few [...]

On a recent trip out in East Vail, a couple friends and I toured up to an area popular among ice climbers and enthusiasts.  We were hoping to find an exit to some potential lines and pillow sets. Apparently there is a ladder built to descend the cliffs at the bottom. While we were trying [...]

Camera on Jump Rope Shows the World from the Rope?s Perspective

Mar 16th 2012 - 0 comments

For this short titled “Full Circle”, Callum Cooper attached a camera to the end of a jump rope and had a number of models use it. In addition to showing a unique point of view, the technique also provides for an interesting way to transition between shots. Photographer Steps On and Kills German Celebrity Earless Bunny

Photographers are supposed to document news rather than make it, but a clumsy German photographer had the ill fortune of doing the latter in the most horrible way this past Wednesday. The photographer was shooting at a media event at the Limbach-Oderfrohna zoo in Eastern Germany when he stepped backward and onto a three-week-old earless [...]

Cesar Kuriyama spent a couple years saving enough money to take an entire year off from work — his 30th year of life. He spent that year living frugally, doing all the things he never had enough time to do: travelling, personal creative projects, and spending time with family. He decided to document that special [...]

NASA has released a gigantic catalog of the night sky that contains more than 563 million stars, galaxies, asteroids, planets, and objects. The images were captured by the infrared cameras of the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mission, which has been collecting data for the past two years. Next Media Animation is a Taiwanese company that regularly creates animations that report on news stories and current events (here’s one they made after the death of Steve Jobs). Earlier this week they released the animation above that explains the rise of Instagram and it’s impending arrival on Android. The style is very… unique.
