Torn between being a filmer and trying to ski for myself. Rarely get the opportunity to be in front of the lens but am extremely thankful for the people who help make it happen! Had tons of fun this year on the planks! Thanks to Swanny, Muskoka Woods and TEAMLTD for the support again this past season.
Level 1's 18th annual feature film HABIT is available now in your favorite digital or hard copy format: level1productions.com/collections/movies/products/habit It’s never quite as easy as it looks in the movies. Even the best professional skiers regularly put their bodies through trials and tribulations in search of that elusive moment when it all comes together- the perfect light with the perfect snow, fingers finding the grab, edges locking onto a rail or ledge, speed perfectly dialed, and balanced feet finding their way to the ground as they prepare for landing. For every magical shot in your favorite film, edit, or photo, dozens or more hit the cutting room floor. In reality its a waiting game of hours, days, or weeks for light. The snow is harder than it looks. Grabs are often missed. Edges fail. Speed is off- too fast, too slow. That perfect balance point eludes even the most talented as they plummet to the ground below. Didn’t get the shot? No matter- pick up your gear and hike back up for another try. Or a few more. As many as it takes to get the shot or until you can break the habit.

Need skis? Head over to revisionskis.com and use my promo code - skitutorials - to get 25% off your next pair of skis! I ride the dimes in the park and couldn't be happier!! Go check out Truman Davenport's soundcloud at Trunova, he is the one that made this sick beat I used for the edit!!! In this video I go over how to properly 540. I start with explaining the importance of setting the trick properly with a T set just like you would a 360. There is not much of a difference going from a 360 to 540. You literally just have to throw a 360 and then let your body go in a way. Sometimes doing that will help you get past the mental block if you have one. Throwing a 540 on skis is super fun and once you get the rotation down good you can start grabbing in them. I started with mute grabs but there are tons of different grabs you can do. If you wait till 270 to grab and you are balanced you should be able to mix in any grab you like. Good luck!!!
The snow level may have been low, but the stoke levels were high this year! Just had as much fun as possible... Cant thank all the amazing people enough for such good times and great memories. For Westward this year we will follow the exploits of the Ontario boys as they try to surmount their greatest mountain yet: school. UBC and UBC Okanagan will be the home of Westward this season enabling us to shoot on location at Big White, Silverstar, Apex, Kelowna backcountry, Kelowna urban, and much, much more. And of course, we will be making many trips back to the ?promised land? of Whistler, and a trip to where it all started: Ontario. Westwards primary goal for this year is to continue with the objective we started last year of putting Ontario skiers on the map and showing they can hold their own in the mountains of BC. The burden of success weighs heavily indeed. After hundreds of thousands of views on Likebomb Skiing #1, the crew was wracked with doubts as to how they would top their initial success. Finally, they decided to go back to Engelberg, Switzerland to search for the climactic gold dust of crappy crust that first brought them fame and fortune. Unfortunately, what they get is something very different.
