The second part of an epic tale filmed in summer 2015 and winter 15/16, inspired by nothing but a passion to push yourself. This part showing a more gratuitous take with travels to Chile with PBP, a trip to the great white north with Rob Aseltine and Tim Jones, and some local skiing versus Part 1 being my home in Utah. Level 1's 18th annual feature film HABIT is available now in your favorite digital or hard copy format: level1productions.com/collections/movies/products/habit It’s never quite as easy as it looks in the movies. Even the best professional skiers regularly put their bodies through trials and tribulations in search of that elusive moment when it all comes together- the perfect light with the perfect snow, fingers finding the grab, edges locking onto a rail or ledge, speed perfectly dialed, and balanced feet finding their way to the ground as they prepare for landing. For every magical shot in your favorite film, edit, or photo, dozens or more hit the cutting room floor. In reality its a waiting game of hours, days, or weeks for light. The snow is harder than it looks. Grabs are often missed. Edges fail. Speed is off- too fast, too slow. That perfect balance point eludes even the most talented as they plummet to the ground below. Didn’t get the shot? No matter- pick up your gear and hike back up for another try. Or a few more. As many as it takes to get the shot or until you can break the habit.

This edit sums up 5 days filming up in La Clusaz using only the lifts available from the resort, I hope you will like the video as mush as we enjoyed filming and editing it. I had a wild time this season traveling on the FWQ circuit and getting dumped on almost every day at home in Tahoe. I had my season cut short by a few months this time around and did not really get a chance to do any filming, so here's what I was able to pull together from GoPros and iPhones. Enjoy! Huge thank you to Smith Optics, The North Face, GoPro, and Sugar Bowl Resort for your support over this past season. As always, shoutout to my amazing friends and family as well. Also, thanks to any and everyone who pointed a camera in my general direction this season (Aaron Fox, Ryan Faye, Trevor Tanhoff, Paul Gradeff, Tyler Curle, and more). With no ropes, no pistes and no one telling you where you can and can’t go, La Grave represents a very special type of freedom rarely found in other alpine ski areas. Narrated by a community of locals who have been freeriding in La Grave for the past two decades, and who still reside there today, this short ski film follows Sam Anthamatten and Johnny Collinson as they discover the steep faces, burly lines and unique collective spirit at the heart of La Grave. Banff Mountain Film & Book Festival Official Selection Starring: Sam Anthamatten, Johnny Collinson, Benjamin Ribeyre, Joe Vallone, Bruno Florit, Russel Turner Direction & Cinematography: Etienne Mérel Aeriel Cinematography: Bluemax Media Photography: Tero Repo Filmed on location: La Grave Skis: https://factionskis.com/collections/s... https://factionskis.com/ Soundtrack: "Better" performed by Airplanes; "Beach 77" music written, composed and performed by B77; "Sous Les Etoiles" performed by Aulx Studio. Joe Schuster and Matt Margetts crossed the border and headed to Mt Hood, Oregon. Arriving in time to share a week of spring riding with the Liberty Skis Team. Eager to hit some late season jumps, the crew hiked into the alpine in search of spots to build. After battling weather for the a few days , the team scored a three day window of sun. After several days of early mornings and late night sunset traverses back to the base, the team called it a trip. We hope you enjoy the video. http://libertyskis.com/

"My winter segment from this year is live online. Lots of ups and downs went into making this happen. From learning how to snowmobile, going broke over and over again and having one of my best childhood friends living on the floor in my room it was nothing short of insane. To everyone that helped shovel, helped film, helped provide stoke, helped teach me how to sled (and get it unstuck) I can’t thank you enough. Wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Also, I want to personally thank Jason Levinthal and J skis for believing in me. Nothing short of a dream come true. And lastly the biggest thank you to my brotha Bobby Stevenson for filming this year, editing this and posting it online for me while I’m up fishing in AK. See ya next winter! Drive far, break ur car. Turns out old Megs only had a few hundred K left on er, but you know what they say, "sometimes your truck explodes and you leave it in Golden". Other than seizing engines we also drove sleds, drank beers, fell off cliffs and didn't make any avalanches. So we're stoked.
