Young, Drunk, and In Love with Skiing in BC

by 00000000
Feb 2014 - 1K views

First things first, filmmaker Graeme Meiklejohn has a divine mustache. It's somewhere between 80's porn auteur and Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Caribbean: a little rakish, a little nasty, kind of cuddly, and all business. Meiklejohn brings us along as he and his friends crisscross the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, stopping off at Whistler and Okanagan, for alternate rounds of drinkin' and skiin'. He has a playful, DIY style that evokes the best of both documentary and music video with a dash of high school confessional and it works wonderfully here. There is nothing so enjoyable as the beauty and gusto of youth portrayed beautifully and with dollops of youthful gusto.

In this film you will meet some of the world's best surfers, Chippa Wilson and Damien Hobgood, taking on beautiful waves engulfed in light and color on specially crafted boards -- in a way you have never seen before. On a journey to Dubai and the Maldives with the world-leading adventure film company, Sweetgrass Productions we found the perfect locations for this movie. by 00000000
Apr 2014 - 432 views

After a week skiing deep powder in Hakuba, Japan Jérôme Chanal and Guillaume Harleaux were planning to go to Hokkaido. Then Jérôme kissed a tree and had to get his face stitched up in the emergency room. While he was sitting in the hospital the snow kept falling and by the time he was out there was tons of fresh powder. The only thing to do was get back on the skis and head into the incredible Japanese mountains. The shooting conditions may have been bad but the skiing was awesome. Bask in the famous Niseko powder, which makes wind, cold, relentless snow and even lip stitches seem like very small issues indeed. Would Avalanches and Stitches Stop You from Skiing Powder? by 00000000
Apr 2014 - 394 views

When Volcom was founded in 1991, it was the first company to combine skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding under one brand from its inception. This way of life influenced the anti-establishment style and attitude that defined a generation. The cultural phenomenon was best captured when Volcom released "Alive We Ride" in 1993: a film documenting the raw excitement and spontaneous creativity inherent to the lifestyle. Twenty-one years later, with the release of "True To This", Volcom again captures the energy and artistry of board-riding in its purest forms. Shot all around the world and showcasing iconic athletes, "True To This" is a tribute to the movement that inspired a generation and the people and places that embody that spirit today.
