Attack Of The Butterflies - Mid July Skiing On Lassen Peak

by B.Gillis
Jul 2017 - 1K views

On the evening of July 21st my roommate Justin and I set out for Lassen Volcanic National Park. Hoping to find some good snow we camped out the first night and made our way over to the peak on the morning of the 22nd. Shortly after we began hiking up the peak trail we were swarmed by tens of thousands of California tortoise-shell butterflies. We spent the rest of the hike admiring the scenery and the mass amounts of butterflies. One of the park rangers told us that the butterflies had migrated to the area in order to pollinate some of the flowers growing on the volcano. The entire experience was surreal. We eventually scrambled over to the Northeast face of the peak and skied down through an endless cloud of butterflies. We finished the day with a few more miles of hiking before setting up camp again for the night just under the peak.

Bomb Snow TV Episode 4

by Bomb_Snow
May 2013 - 1.4K views

After a rowdy eviction party, we hit the road early on April 1st with Alaska segments from old MSP and TGR movies burned in our brains. With 2500 miles in front of us, we knew we were in for a long ride, but the prospects of skiing steep blower spines kept our spirits high. Loaded with 5 snowmobiles on an old rusty trailer, we were clueless as to the hardships that would be brought on by the rough roads of Northern Alberta and the Yukon. Bomb Snow TV Episode 4, the last of the season produced by the Bridger Brigade, is a brief account of our adventures to Alaska. From Montana, to Valdez, to Haines, and back to Montana, our journey was filled with highlights and disasters. We have gained a new understanding and appreciation for the Alaskan skiing journey. After 7 days and 6 nights in the truck, 4 blown trailer tires, and 2 broken trailer arms, our hardships were outweighed by a plane drop and an unreal 4 days spent on a glacier in Haines (Minute 10). Needless to say, the Alaskan experience was humbling. The sick terrain and incredible challenges have revamped our ambition toward skiing. With new determination and new goals, nothing will stop us from spending our Spring's in Alaska. Sony Mind's Eye Season 2: Dash Longe

by TetonGravity
Sep 2014 - 934 views

In this episode of Sony Mind's Eye, Dash wanted to use the Action Cam to abandon the conventions of your run-of-the-mill POV edit. He worked with TGR production intern Matt Dillman to chop up the footage and throw in some animation, breaking up the usual format while also covering some fun bits from TGR's recent shoot in Sella Nevea, Italy. "Matt and I were really focusing on using as many different angles as possible to break up the traditional POV look and feel," Dash said about his time in the TGR studio last week with Matt. Using diverse angles from the production crew and audio bites?all captured on the Action Cam?Dash and Matt put together a different take on the ol' left turn-right turn experience while bagging shots for next year's film, Almost Ablaze. Sony's Mind's Eye is a ten episode series of self-edits. These edits give an insider's look at the team of TGR athletes as they document their adventures with Sony's Action Cam. Be sure to check out the new Action Cam, which features a snow-proof body, image stabilizer, and A-grade audio recording at: http://bit.ly/1lygvzX
