July and August of 2017 I had the good fortune of tagging along with the SASS Global Travel crew in Argentina as their staff filmer. I am returning this summer and decided to put together all of my favorite shots from last season and couldn't be more hyped to get back down south! You can find all the information you'll need here to have the trip of a lifetime: http://www.sassglobaltravel.com/ Song: Khruangbin - People Everywhere (Still Alive)
March 2018 in Tahoe truly was a miracle - it came in like a lion, saving our lackluster season with big storms and massive snow totals. Filmed in one day, this film shows different groups of winter athletes accessing the same terrain without conflict. Featuring Jed Kravitz, Alex 'Shugz' Dorszynski, John Lauer and Chris Cloyd. Music - Spooky Mansion 'Torture'
Long-time JANKY snowboarder John Sheffler dragged Hazen Woolson all around Hokkaido to see how much ramen a gaijin can physically eat - and the answer is a lot. Throughout their battles with noodle bowls the pair explore the volcanic peaks, powder-filled ski areas and hidden roadside features of Japan's snowy north island in "Bean," their trusty Nissan Dayz. -Music- -Guitar - Ayako -Darius & FKJ - O
With just enough snow to get a little park up and firing, the big air was getting lit up by the Bad Boys of Belmont. Featuring Andy McDowell, Tim Sargent, Connery Lundin, Henry Holdsworth, Dave Zook, Griffin Lancaster, Sam Wallace, and Gwanny Moseley.
After the closing of most North American ski resorts, Argentina's winter began in earnest in August. For the fourth installment in the trilogy(??), Hazen Woolson heads south of the equator with the SASS Global Travel crew chasing big lines and another big winter. Featuring Piers Solomon, Jon Conway, Pete Connolly, Mauri Cambilla and Hazen. Like/Follow: https://www.facebook.com/jankyfilms/ https://www.instagram.com/jankyfilms/
As high pressure weather patterns brought ample sunshine to California, Squaw Valley got to work shaping the incredible snowfall from the winter months into a spring snowfall from the winter months into a spring terrain park paradise. "Follow Me" documents the May sessions with Keenan Hawkins, Sam Wallace, Connery Lundin, Jed Kravitz, Hazen Woolson, Mike Legay, Jaime Melton, Keith Dillon, Eli Sobel and Anthony Santos.
Part 1 of our 3 part web series Room For Improvement. After the new year Tahoe faced down one of the most impressive Januarys on record with numerous atmospheric rivers dumping millions of gallons of rain and almost 300 inches of snow on the peaks around Squaw Valley and Tahoe City. In between storms the Janky crew enjoyed some of the best conditions the area has seen in 6 years, capitalizing on amazing storm skiing and a few cold sunny days. Featuring Anthony Santos, Eli Sobel, Pete Kukesh, Jed Kravitz, Andrew Putnam, Hazen Woolson, Aaron Bushey, and Henry Holdsworth. Big thanks to Niel Kasper, Aaron Bushey and friends for helping with filming!
The stars and storms aligned for the eastern Sierra to have all-time conditions when the Janky boys arrived at the beginning of March. Featuring Jed Kravitz, Henry Holdsworth, Anthony Santos, Chris Hounsell and Hazen Woolson. Thank you so much to both Chris Hounsell and Zach Steele for helping man the cameras. Song - Haerts - Wings
Room For Improvement documents the 2017 winter in the Sierra with 3 webisodes exploring different locations in northern California. With record-setting storms and a monster snowpack, the Janky crew skied deep powder, big lines and enormous jumps into July.
A cold mid-April storm leaves two feet of pow over the Sierra, and Hazen, Anthony Phil and John tee up Sugarbowl on Donner Pass. Just in time for Tax Season!
January 2017 was a back-breaking and record-breaking month of atmospheric rivers that brought unprecedented amounts of precipitation to the greater Tahoe area, both rain and snow. This edit is a collection of the Janky crew's best shots from the best sessions during the month of January, all filmed in the Tahoe Basin. Thanks to all our friends who stepped behind the camera to help out, and to those who contributed their own footage to make this edit what it is. And to our athletes: Anthony Santos / Andrew Putnam / Eli Sobel / Hazen Woolson / Henry Holdsworth / Jed Kravitz / Keenan Hawkins / Pete Kukesh / and friends

After 4 seasons of drought conditions, the average snowfall of 2016 has been the best winter in a long time. The Janky crew has been waiting for years for the right conditions to come out to this zone, and after a big storm in mid-March things looked perfect. With friends visiting from Jackson and the entire Tahoe Massive crew at hand it was all worth the wait! Big thanks to all who filmed - Zach Steele, Keenan Hawkins, Timm Phillips, etc. Extra special thanks to Chris Hounsell aka the Godfather aka Hounsellhoff Riders - Davis Souza - Henry Holdsworth - Cody Wilkins - Lars Chickering-Ayers - Silas Chickering-Ayers - Keenan Hawkins - Timm Phillips - Hazen Woolson - Zach Steele - Jed Kravitz - Alex Dorszynski - Bobby Kurylo
JANKYfilms, TahoeMASSIVE and Mad Trees converged upon Revelstoke, BC mid January to ski the legendary terrain of this Canadian outpost. With at least 4 sleds totaled, skis broken, personal injuries, and excessive poutine consumption, it's a wonder that we were even able to get any footage! Song: Borns "Electric Love" (Oliver Remix) This video wouldn't have been possible without the help of our friends who contributed footage: Connery Lundin, George Vandercook, and Jed Kravitz and Tim Kelliher for manning the cameras with me. Thanks to the Tahoe Massive crew, the Mad Trees crew, Granite Chief Ski & Mountain Shop, and Slant Skis.

With the 3rd winter of drought in Tahoe coming to a close, the JANKY crew was determined to make the most of it and took to the open road: Highway 395 led them to the heart of spring skiing in the Sierra. In the last full edit of the season the crew explores the high peaks and couloirs off of Tioga Pass, the Unbound Terrain Park at Mammoth Mountain and incredible corn skiing through May and into June.
Mid-winter in Tahoe was underwhelming indeed for the Janky crew - low snow totals and high pressure forced them to seek out spring-time activities, for example the Second Annual Nick Mota Invitational and the Castle Peak Jump Sessions. Just when they thought that winter had run its course, Mother Nature surprised them all with a cold system of storms that left over 6' of light powder over the Tahoe basin over a week. Everybody scrambled to ski as much powder as their legs and work schedules would allow, not wanting it to end. Enjoy as the crew seeks out new backcountry locations in South Lake Tahoe and pays homage to the freeskiing mecca that is Squaw Valley. Songs: Monster Rally - Sun Videos Big Spider's Back - Terminal Seat The Guess Who - These Eyes Vance Joy - Riptide (FlicFlac Remix) Riders: Anthony Santos, Peter Calhoun, Keenan Hawkins, Austin Hawkins, JP Schlick, Andrew Tarca, Josh A, Jacob Schwarz, Hazen Woolson, Timm Phillips, Eli Sobel
The winter of 13-14 was looking much like the last 2 seasons by the time March rolled around, and the Janky Crew was faced with another winter of drought. Low snow totals, high pressure systems and high temperatures left them with few options, and building a jump in the ample corn snow seemed like the right move. Luckily Tim Kelliher had spotted a likely location along the south-facing flank of Castle Peak off of I-80 about an hour hike from Boreal, and the idea was born - build a step-up jump and they will come. We spent 1 day building it and another 2 days sessioning it into the last minutes of twilight with a whole bunch of dudes.
Didn't expect to crew up, but Janky and Tahoe Massive casually joined forces and had a blast today. SloMo Saturday! Tim Sargent, Davis Souza, Keenan Hawkins, Jed Kravitz, Robbie Wait, Hazen Woolson, Grant Wiltshire, Anthony Santos, Shugz, Eli Sobel
Tim Kelliher and Hazen Woolson just out for a rip in Ebbetts Pass as a low pressure system moves in over the Sierra.
Nick Mota, local Tahoe City resident and renowned Meat Cannon/Luge Expert worked for 7 days straight tirelessly building gypsy features with a crew of dedicated friends on the secret slopes of Tahoe Donner. What resulted was truly a spectacle of berms, banks, hips, rhythm jumps and poppy booters with a fair share of scary must-make gaps that together created what we all know as the course for the Second Annual Nick Mota Invitational. With one drop-in, the course split into two separate tracks; the "Meat Luge," a winding and twisting trail of rhythm jumps, 90 degree berm turns and a hip, and the "Meat Cannon," a line that showcased a near-vertical aerials-style jump, a death-defying 35' gap, and a gelande style high-speed sender. With this monstrous snow creation the stage was set for Tahoe's best skiers and riders to risk it all. It's hard to describe it in words, perhaps a video would do the trick.
This is our Shreddit Showdown video contest entry filmed entirely in the greater Tahoe area during January and February of this season. Please vote here, takes 2 seconds: http://snowbrains.com/shredditshowdown/#ss-6
As California faced down a record 3-year drought, the Tahoe loc-dogs grew restless for some real skiing. After a busy holiday and plenty of sunshine the Janky crew gathered and traveled in a Subaru caravan to the land of sweet powder promises: Jackson Hole Wyoming. J-Hole managed to stay relatively high pressure-free throughout the early season with a good base and rumors of more powder on the way. Ski Riders: Anthony Santos, Eli Sobel, Peter Calhoun, Dave Wadleigh, Hazen Woolson, Cody Wilkinson, Henry Holdsworth, Eric McEwen. Songs: Blondie - Heart of Glass (Oliver and Thee Mike B Remix) Royksopp - This Space D'latierra - Untitled Special thanks to Maddie and Bryan for their hospitality!
Hi my name's Hazen, I'm a scorpio and I love dairy. This video is about me skiing with friends in California, Oregon and a dash of Utah in a variety of terrain. Thanks to JP and crew for filming and shredding!
The Janky crew panics as winter turns to spring in Tahoe and heads out in search of snow, jumps and adventure. JP, Timmy and Hazen explore the enormous slopes of Mount Shasta through the Sunski lens.
During the winter of 2012 I purchased a wind-up Super 8mm film camera at a thrift store in Reno and ordered a few rolls of Kodak Ektachrome 100D film from the internet. Shot over the course of the spring of 2012, this video showcases the totally radical skiing skills of Nate Calabro, Andrew Tarca, Justin Wright, Timm Phillips, Tim Kelliher, Eli Sobel, Anthony Santos, JP Schlick and "Metal" Jeff Knoblauch. Songs are "Pick Up the Pieces" by Average White Band and "Jump" by Van Halen.
Shred Ready athletes Keenan Hawkins and Hazen Woolson take a day or two with the camera and test out the new forty4 helmet in the Alpine Meadows, Squaw and Boreal terrain parks. www.shredready.com/
