Back in April, the Rettenbach glacier in Sölden hosted one of Europe's heaviest big kicker sessions with two of the finest freeski crews in the land. On January 14th the freeskiers Manuel Manca and Jörg Angeli were more than happy to follow the invitation to the Snowpark Scuol. Our discovery journey through the Dolomiti Super Freestyle snowparks continues at the Sanpe Snowpark, a park which was completely renovated for this season and where everyone can find challenging obstacles for his/her own level. The park?s location on the San Pellegrino Pass is particularly favorable: there is no lack of natural snow and the area is always sunlit. We spent an awesome film and photo shooting day in the park together with the riders!
The first of march was a perfect park day. Warm enough to ride with the hoodie but still cold enough to get enough speed for the jumps. Blue Tomato did send their teamriders Severin Noiges and Alexander Reiter, who were joined by locals like Moritz Schwarz. At the O?Neill Roof Battle last Saturday at the Superpark Dachstein, the best riders of the QParks Snowboard Tour battled for the overall Tour victory. In a dramatic final on the rail line, the riders were once again showing off with awesome tricks. Now the overall winners are crowned and tons of goodies and more than EUR 5.000,- in prize money have found a new owner! The Blue Tomato Kingspark is one of the first true Slopestyles in austria with a full length of 1.8 kilometers, 4 sections and tons of obstacles. The young up and comer Jakob Kratzer just became 1st in the rookie comp at the Mayrhofen Freeski Open. Maybe it helped that he was in Muehlbach the days before to train some endless lines. The super-sunny weekend proofed to be the perfect date for the follow lines shooting at the MINI Snowpark Feldberg. As the end of the season slowly ticking down with the hands of the clock, it was decided that it was time for a spring session on the kickers at the Vans Penken Park Mayrhofen on the 8th of March. With the snow as soft as velvet underfoot, the riders could send it to the bottom of the landings without a worry in the world before they turned their attention to the new jib ditch that was built this season. FREESTYLE STORM AT IT'S FINEST!! With sunshine and mulled wine, the freestyle community was celebrating the Blue Tomato Plan P on the Planai last Sunday! Due to bad weather conditions, the contest had to be moved from Saturday to Sunday ? and it was definitely worth waiting for! The weather Gods worked with us and sent us not only sunshine, but also enough snow to conjure a proper setup into the Horsefeathers Superpark Planai. The Zillertal Valley is situated perfectly in between high mountain ranges and snow lovers are drawn naturally into this beautiful landscape. In addition to that one of the worlds best snowpark, the Vans Penken Park Mayrhofen, makes this area definitely a melting pot for Europes Freestyle Scene. Freeskiers love the legendary Proline but also the massive amount of jibs which are constantly rebuild and lined up in the most creativ way.
