Riley Leboe's Grand B-Side

by JFISQIV
May 22nd 2012 - 0 comments

Words & Edit: Riley Leboe Spring has definitely set in around Squamish, BC. I finally took the time to finish up an edit I have been working on since January. I wanted to put together a B-Roll edit with some left over footage from The Grand Bizarre. There?s always a lot of footage that doesn?t make the movie so I figured, ?Why not put something together that hasn?t been seen?? Now, the reason I haven?t finished this until now is because I?ve been quite busy working with PBP on this year?s film. It?s been a really fun season, and we had some great trips and sweet times. We had awesome snow early on this season and I hit up some awesome cat skiing operations. Monashee Powder Snowcats with Tyler, Sherpa, Joe and Charley was all time. Sledding around Whistler was good as always. We had some tough weeks where snow, stability and weather was not cooperating, which seemed to be a running trend all season. It?s a bit tough on the head but we got some blue bird days that made up for all of that. I got to head to Alaska with Sean Pettit, Dane Tudor and Pep Fujas and I can easily say that is a spot on the map I will be heading every year. It was a first time for me so I couldn?t think of a better crew to be up there with. Nothing beats helicopters and big lines. I got to ski some of the best lines of my life. Unfortunately my trip was cut short with an ankle injury but I?ll be heading back to saddle up again. Spring?s always one of my favorite times of the season. All my buddies who compete and who I don?t see for most of the season come back to Whistler for the festival. There?s still good snow for shooting, warm days skiing park and lots of good times. It was definitely a good spring and wind down to my season. Now it?s a few weeks off before summer camps start. Anyways, that?s a short recap of my season. I?m stoked to see what comes of it in the new PBP movie. But for now I just hope you guys enjoy the edit. It reminds me of some wicked days with good friends and I hope it gets you stoked to get out there. Even if fresh pow is quite a few months away. Cordova With Points North Heli

My trip to Points North Heli Adventures is complete, I got my best ski to day ratio ever, I was here 7 days and skied 5 of those. Our guide was Kip Garre, he took these photos of us during our shoot, I pulled them off the Points North Facebook page. Kip is the man, he has guided around the world, Antarctica, India and he rides for K2 and Mountain Hardware. You can?t ski in Alaska without a guide, and having a good guide is key to getting good shots. He showed us the best of the best, and it was never a question that we were going to get on the best stuff up here from the minute we walked in the door. Here is some teaser shots of AK in my latest Durtschi Diary from www.timdurtschi.com This Diary starts with some POV Snowmobiling in Idaho. Then I go and eat it on some Urban. I went flying in Alaska with my brother, got a plane ride to the ski area Alyeska! Next is some of my footage from my Trip in Cordova with Points North Heli Adventures, you will have to wait for Poor Boyz to see the bangers. The last shot will show you why it is never fun to fall in AK.

Always Split Aces- Tahoe Trip.

by JFISQIV
Apr 13th 2011 - 0 comments

I left Sun Valley, ID and headed straight to Tahoe to meet up with Nick Martini, Cole Harrison (Filmer) and Freeskier photographer great Nate Abbot. Martini and I had been planning a trip since his spleen injury that he encountered back in early January filming up in Spokane, WA. With no shortage of snow and almost too much to work with at times, Tahoe was the place for us to accomplish our mission. Blue skies, Warm temps, blackjack, craps, roulette, and three card-poker, what was not to like about this trip?! With the exception of a few close calls with the police (see video) and a few bad hands of doubling down and betting on black we came out on top winning, shots and all! Remember, always split aces and double down with 10 or 11 when the dealer isn?t showing a face card. Go to PoorBoyz.bnqt.com for more videos.

We're here in Sun Valley, Idaho for our first park shoot of the year, despite difficult weather conditions we are finding a way to get it done. Our awesome crew consisting of Clayton Vila, Sean Jordan, Leigh Powis, Paul Bergeron, Pete Arneson, photographers Tim Sorenson and Parker Hemingway as well as cinematographers Cody Carter and myself. The Sun Valley Park Crew has built us a big old jump that we have spent a couple nights shooting on, including a sunset shoot as well as a night shoot that turned out to take place during a blizzard. Europe!

Mar 13th 2011 - 0 comments

I'm here in Europe with Charley Ager, Leigh Powis, Matt Margetts, photographer Dan Carr and SBC Skier editor Chris O'Connell. This has been one of the more challenging trips this season as we left Whistler while it was dumping snow, to head to France and Switzerland to do grass rides. We have been battling with snow conditions everywhere here, but thanks to the comedic relief of Charley and Leigh as well as the infamous Margetts, we have been having tons of fun. We started the trip in France and did some shooting there for a few days. Once we felt the snow was skied out we headed to Wengen, Switzerland and did a couple days shooting there. After skiing all the good snow out of that place we have now landed ourselves in Laax, Switzerland. We will spend our last couple of days here before heading back to North America. Here are some photos from the trip courtesy of Chris O'Connell from SBC Skier.

Finland 2011

Finland 2011 "A Welcome Over Stayed" As the world set it's gaze upon the triumphant ones at X, a crew assembled themselves in Helsinki for one objective, Urban in Europe! The emphasis of the trip was to focus soly on doing rails and features that only exist in Europe. Finland has a preconceived notion of being relaxed when if comes to concern for liability and law suits. In other words, the cops where the least of our worries, but that's not to say the trip was no worries. Though this trip was different. The waters where uncharted and the obstacles stacked agains us relentlessly. Cam Riley forged on, Clayton Villa forged on, Osakari " Ratatat" Raitanen forged on, Matt Walker fallowed suit. The days meshed together as feature after feature and bolt after bolt where laid in our wake. Angry Fin's yelled at us in an uncanny fashion. Unfortunately we made some people angry, that was not our intention. We where just misunderstood. Minute before this lady came out to end our fun we where laughing with the children and giving them movies for last year. Thanks Again to Oskar, Rami Lappalainen and Helena from the Finish Tourism Board. Without your help this trip wouldn't have been as fun. Stay tuned for more to Come. So we headed up to Revelstoke, BC from Whistler with the crew of Riley Leboe, Charley Ager, Mike Henitiuk, Brandon Kelly, Dan Carr and myself. We got set up with some amazing rooms in the Nelsen Lodge at Revelstoke Mountain Resort and everyone is excited to have a nice place to relax and crash after a long day of sled shredding. The snow here is very deep and the crew is foaming at the mouth looking at all the awesome terrain, keep checking back for more updates, this is going to be an awesome trip.

After some good snow in Whistler, the freezing level went up to 1800m and the snow turned to crust. So we packed up and headed out to Revelstoke BC with Ager, Leboe, Heni and crew, arriving to the deepest best snow of the season, and happen to be staying at the Nelsen Lodge, which is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The trip is going real good and there is lots more pow and fun to be had. photos: Brandon Kelly Mike Henitiuk www.mikehenitiuk.com

Jan 4th 2011 - 0 comments

Well, I meant for this blog to go up a long time again but the new year snuk up and have you know it already it's 2011! Well Happy New Year! I headed up to whistler to test out one of our new winches we got. Please check out the guys' over at lasewer.com They Are custom building winches to needs to fit you the best. I know your thinking whistler is a weird place to test for urban but there are always some hidden gems to be found and many more to be released with the 2011 film coming out. Charley Ager is a year older and still stomping crazy tricks off cliffs more then twice his age. Mike Henitiuk is a year older as well and even has the moustache to go with it, wich is just as greasy as his rail game. Leigh Gangrelated Powis is back off his injury and looking to pick up right where he left off. Brandon "Sherpa" Kelly has joined the produciton team fully now and you can find him behind the lense this season, documenting all that beautiful whistler landscape. More updates to follow! The Whistler Crew including Ager, Heni, Leboe and Powis had a great December to finish off 2010. With a bunch of jibs and some help from the tow winch to get things started. Meanwhile the snow was building in the the backcountry and things were looking ready to go for some snowmobiling. Some sunny days and fresh pow made for a perfect wrap up to the year! 2011 is gonna be Crazy.
