At first glance, photographer Timothy Pakron’s “Silver Print” series of portraits might look like ink paintings or some kind of CG art. They’re actually photographs created by hand painting developer onto photo paper in the darkroom instead of immersing the paper entirely in the solution. Pakron writes, By using the familiarity of the face as [...]

NASA astronomers announced today that they are certain that our galaxy is on an unavoidable collision course with the Andromeda Galaxy, the closest spiral galaxy to us. Don’t worry though, it won’t be happening for another 3.5 billion years or so. What’s interesting is that the collision will drastically change what our night sky looks [...]

Day 1: 2010 X Games Slopestyle Results

Day 1 is over and so are the X games for a couple unfortunate professional skiers. Since only the top 8 move up, the men's slopestyle finals are going to be packed with the best. I wasn't really impressed with the double flipping straight rail riding competition today. I am stoked to see Sammy and Tom throw down with more style Saturday. Check out the Skiing Slopestyle Men?s Final on ESPN 2 this Saturday, January 30 at 4 pm- 6 pm. The women's slopestyle field was quite a bit smaller so the finals were held today. Kaya Turski, Keri Herman, and Grete Eliassen rounded out the top 3 with no real surprises. Men's 2010 X Games Slopestyle Elimination Results: (Top 8 Make it to Finals) 1 Andreas Hatveit, 2 Bobby Brown, 3 Russ Henshaw, 4 Sammy Carlson, 5 Tom Wallisch, 6 Phil Casabon, 7 Jossi Wells, 8 Matt Walker, 9 JF Houle, 10 Jacob Wester, 11 Elias Ambuhl, 12 Charles Gagnier, 13 Alexis Godbout, 14 TJ Schiller, 15 PK Hunder, 16 Colby West Women's 2010 X Games Slopestyle Final Results: 1 Kaya Turski, 2 Keri Herman, 3 Grete Eliassen, 4 Ashley Battersby, 5 Megan Olenick, 6 Sarah Burke, 7 Kristi Leskine

After spending nearly a month on the road which took me from Massachusetts to Quebec to Colorado for the SIA tradeshow in Denver and the XGames in Aspen, I spent the weekend "decompressing" at my family's house in Lincoln, NH. It was good to spend some time in a familiar location, and even better to make some turns at my home resort of Loon Mtn. Click for video

With two days of rest and catching up on emails after my trip to Reno, I headed back on the road to Loon Mountain this past weekend to shoot for their brochure and website. Despite the 2:00 a.m. wake up & departure from Cape Cod, I was pretty excited for most of the 3 hr 20 min drive to get up to my home resort and shoot the sunrise atop North Peak. If I had a bucket list, riding to the summit of Loon in a snowcat would be crossed off now.
