This is my winning run from The North Face Frontier FWQ 4* freeride comp in New Zealand in August 2016. This year was the first time the comp has run as a four star rated event, so people were throwing down some pretty cool stuff! I actually changed my plan half way through the run as the cliff I was planning to hit scared the shit out of me as I got closer to it, so I went to plan B for the bottom section. The closest I'll get to a season edit is strapping my GoPro Hero2 to my chest and getting mediocre shots of above average pow laps at Jackson Hole. Pro tip: use a helmet mount. Pro tip 2: Don't use a potato as your GoPro. Pro tip 3: put the camera down and just ski.
Powder days at Treble Cone are an amazing thing. Usually it takes about half the day for the Saddle basin to open, and seeing as the saddle is where the magic happens, frothers and powder hounds will line up for at least 30 mins in the hopes of scoring first chair. When the rope drops, chaos ensues as the Saddle Opening Chinese Downhill gets under way. Anyone who has been there knows how mad it can be, and I for one love the madness! This is me scoring 2nd chair on a mad dog pow day mid July. For those who missed the joke, The intro scene and voice over/song is from a classic American ski movie called Hot Dog. CHARACTERS ON SKIS ist der neuste Streifen von MIDIAFILM. Ein Film der sich nicht immer allzu ernst nimmt. Die Darstellung der einzelnen Charaktere auf Skiern - eine Kombination aus Big Mountain Lines, tiefen Powderturns und feiner BC-Freestyle Action. Die magere Schneesituation im Frühwinter verleitete die Akteure spontan sich auf eine unvergessliche Reise nach Japan zu begeben. Hier erwartete sie nicht nur die aufgehende Sonne sondern vor allem endloser Schneefall mit feinstem Pulverschnee. Ausgeschöpft bis an die Grenzen kehrten sie in die heimischen Berge zurück. Ganz nach dem Motto - wer suchet der findet - zeigten sich die Alpen dann doch von ihrer besten Seite. Besonders in Silvretta Montafon wurden die Charaktere für ihre Suche mit Alaska ähnlichen Spines und unverspurtem Gelände belohnt. Schlussendlich wurde die Saison mit einem Roadtrip durch Norwegen gekrönt. Die BMW 4WDs brachten alle zusammen schließlich an die einsamsten Ecken der Lofoten und Lyngenalps. Hier wurde die Nacht zum Tag gemacht, Mittssommernacht sei Dank.

Better late then never some snow finally arrived :) The highlight of the season was for sure that we got the chance to participate in the Kick the Vik Eco Freeride Tour in Val Maighels and Maloja and filming with Core Shot Productions. All in all we had a great season with amazing new people and lots of hiking. Can't wait for more! Filmers: Kick the Vik, Danny Warley, Core Shot Productions, Andri Bieger
