had a solid day checking out the the Rattlesnake Mountains near Snowbowl,MT.
Im ready for real skiing, but messing around on Carlton Ridge has been keeping me happy.
Skied the south chute off of Gray Wolf Peak in the Mission Mountains on a crystal clear day. Perfect carvy corn. Kudos to the the world war 2 era bulldozer that cleared the roads for us. Also kudos to the mountain goat that broke trail for us up the chute.
skiing is a lot like a girl flashing her dumpers. Even the mediocre ones are thoroughly enjoyable.
The lifts have stopped turning at the bowl. Time to start exploring! Kicking it off with a Missoula classic in perfect bluebird pow, good ole Stuart peak. So happy my knee is holding up! lots of spring missions ahead.
forescast called for up to 10 inches overnight, we got a whopping 2. Still had a jolly old time.
Things have been looking pretty shitty and depressing out here in western Montana, so when I got the invite to Cooke City I was like braaaaaappppppp. My gopro failed on two of the days; apparently you need to charge them at night and not just get wasted. Thank you Cooke City for reminding me that winter is still happening. I will definitely be heading back to Brappppp City next year.
one of those magical days. Big mountain on saturday was the best snow Ive skied in a minute. Dusty!
Missoula keep doing your fishing and fat biking. I will keep doing my skiing.
skiing, blue skies, busch light in camo cans, surly hunters, new friends, bonfires, wolf tracks, and chainsaws. Quintessential Montana.
tuesday at lolo pass was slow and floaty. a pillowy dreamworld.
I've been drooling over the Mission Mountains since I moved to Montana and yesterday I finally got up there. Despite some mild bushwhackage and variable snow it was a great day to preview the vast potential of this visually stunning range. I will be returning soon...
Its crunch time. I have to join society again soon and the snowpack is bleeding away rapidly. So we rallied north to Glacier National Park's east side to look for some wintry turns and get out of the rain. Turns out they are hurting for snow too, but we found some fun. Can't wait to come back here during a normal winter.
Kept it mellow at low low pass while the snowpack heals up high. 2 days of stumpjumping to keep warm in the frigid temps. fun stuff.
The Bitterroots got a surprise storm last night. I was so excited this morning I forgot my poles, so I procured a sweet skinningstick/selfiestick.
Checking out old zones. Trying to remember how to ski before the next big storm hits. Feeling like half a bitcoin.
Had a party for the baby jesus at The Downing Mountain Lodge. some wise men brought that loud. Then it snowed, so we made angry dad turns.
great day with the boys up on lolo pass popping off things. Clear skies and deep snow made for a perfect day to end 2016 properly. What a year its been. I ho...
couple dumb gopro shots from yesterday messing around on carlton ridge

Just slogging around some more new areas to try and find the goods.
