We were beginning to wonder if summer would arrive on Mt. Hood. After countless June evenings building fires to dry our boots and clothes we wanted the rain to stop and sun to begin. The change in weather would also help the snow, freezing at night and thawing during the day would make for perfect conditions.Read More...

K2 Hood House Open For Business

by SkiersRealm
Jul 10th 2009 - 0 comments

If my name was Todd Bracher I would move to Government Camp for the summer and ski everyday. Since I would only be able to ride in the mornings, I would follow my heart and publish the days events reporting to K2, the world and most importantly my boss why the Hood House is such a great use of funds in these hard economic times. Well, my name is Spencer not Todd so I can only imagine what it must be like to live the life of T-Money Bracher. I guess we will read the words from this master of disaster and live through him not with him. Read More...

Nike 6.0 StinkWeen Braata Shoes Sneak Peak

by SkiersRealm
Jul 10th 2009 - 0 comments

NIke 6.0 StinkWeen Braata Shoes: Welcome to a world of vibrant color and madcap illustration, where shoe soles double as art canvases and seemingly subtle details glow electric-green in the dark. Nike 6.0 joined forces with prolific street artist Mark Paul Deren (a.k.a. Madsteez) to create something fresh and visually groundbreaking. The result? The Nike 6.0 StinkWeen Braata. The Nike Braata translates this wonderfully weird vision with easy-wearing innovation. Built with Nike Free technology, the Braata’s uber-flex allows the foot to follow its natural movements and provides unprecedented board-feel that’s tempered with support in all the right places. The Braata’s cold-wrap construction process reduces environmental impact and also allows the insert of a cushioned midsole, differentiating it from traditional vulcanized shoes. Skiers reinvent the winch Red Bull style and throw down in the urban arena. Wakeskaters have been hitting spots never thought possible with winches for the last couple years. It was only time before other athletes jumped behind the motor. Word on the street is that Sammy Carlson is borrowing a winch from Active Water [...]

French Cut Tips Off Of Rockered Skis - Who Say You America?

by SkiersRealm
Apr 1st 2009 - 1 comments

French Ski company Coreupt might have been a little intoxicated when they decided these skis would be a good idea. To me it looks like they took a pair of K2 Hellbents, made them a little wider, a little longer and cut those tips right off. I guess I should look at it with open eyes and not knock them until I try them. We will have to wait and see what the production models actually look like. Read More...

Shane McConkey Dies In Italy | 1969 - 2009

by SkiersRealm
Mar 27th 2009 - 0 comments

Shane McConkey, free ski representative to the world, died yesterday near Corvara Italy. Shane was filming for the new Matchstick video and had a malfunction after jumping off a cliff. Base jumping and skiing were two of his favorite things to do. In 2003 Shane put his two favorite sports together and skied off a cliff with a parachute. Although many in the ski community viewed this cliff jump as just another stunt, Shane saw it as a new component <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} span.EmailStyle15 {mso-style-type:personal; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Arial; mso-ascii-font-family:Arial; mso-hansi-font-family:Arial; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial; color:windowtext;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> of skiing. This opened up an entirely new perspective for Shane on where he could ski and what types of lines he could claim. Shane said, "there are a lot of lines that you cant do because it ends in a big giant cliff". This new avenue aloud him to ski these lines. Shane, like most of us lived for the pure adrenaline rush. Rest in peace. Read More, K2 Skis Tribute
