Nike 6.0 Ski Takes Winter X Games

by SkiersRealm
Feb 22nd 2009 - 0 comments

The 6.0 team started it’s X Games week off right with Simon taking Bronze in the Superpipe. He had come into the contest, naturally, expecting Gold, as many others expected as well. And each of his three runs looked golden until its very last hit, or lack thereof. Just like last year, Simon was by many accounts the best skier in the contest, just without enough half pipe to show everything he could do. Although he had it dialed in practice, Simon went a little bigger in the contest and ended up running out of pipe before he could get his last-hit alley-oop nine. Oh well, third is pretty sick, right? READ MORE... Via: Nike 6.0 Skis

Rally for Riley Poor! The Accident Explained

by SkiersRealm
Feb 22nd 2009 - 0 comments

This story is not one that we ever like to hear. Riley Poor is the freeskiing industry. Riley is a team manager, friend to all and supporter of a growing sport. This story is straight from rileypoor.com. Check it out and keep up to date and if you can spare a couple dollars his family will be forever grateful. I probably should have posted this first but I think this is worth sharing with all of you out there. It is from an email I sent to Riley’s brother Travis who left for a year long sojurn to South America on last Thursday as chance would have it. I have edited it somewhat of things of a personal nature but the jist of the event that lead to my typing here is from what I remember. I hope that those that were on the scene will chime in with their tale also so that we can all process the accident and move on from it. Shit happens. READ MORE... As one panel voter put it, “For doing what he does best, Sage out-shined everone.” Or, as another said, “If Sage doesn’t win, this thing is a joke.” Sage combined steep, technical, scary Alaska lines with deep Wyoming powder shots and spins and flips to put together a mind-blowing segment for TGR’s Under the Influence. This is Sage’s second Best Male Performance award. He also won in 2004 for his role in TGR’s The High Life, a year after winning Breakthrough Performer. Read More Results... via: Powderawards.com

"Both the JOSS and the JOI will be happening in the spring of 2009, but this time not only in Are... A preliminary web-site with more info will be up in a week! Watch this space for details! / JON" We knew Jon was having a little trouble securing the resort and sponsors needed to host the JOSS. He has been stressing out the past couple weeks but with that said he can now rest a little easier. SkiersRealm is so stoked to see that it is going to happen. With the economy the way it is to not have a riders event like the JOSS and JOI would be a travesty. Via: Jon Olsson Video Blog
