CR Johnson passed away today skiing at Squaw Valley today.  We are still waiting for more information, but the shock of losing such an amazing skier has hit me personally very hard.  CR was always an inspiration to my skiing, I looked up to him during my high school days like kids look up to [...] No related posts.

I'm not even doing this for the comp, just wanted to get my thoughts out there. I was inspired by some of the other articles, so I know I'm ripping off them a bit; I just wrote this one for fun.

With two days of rest and catching up on emails after my trip to Reno, I headed back on the road to Loon Mountain this past weekend to shoot for their brochure and website. Despite the 2:00 a.m. wake up & departure from Cape Cod, I was pretty excited for most of the 3 hr 20 min drive to get up to my home resort and shoot the sunrise atop North Peak. If I had a bucket list, riding to the summit of Loon in a snowcat would be crossed off now.

Alaska shooting with PBP

I’m becoming very very familiar with the interior of the hotel room in which I’m currently sitting.  The front door is a portal to the 1970s, wood paneled walls that creak in the night, vinyl flooring and a selection of electrical appliances that would make an interesting museum exhibit.  They call it the “slow roast” here in Haines, Alaska, and nobody knows how long it will last.  When I first arrived in town 2 weeks ago the skies were blue for a couple of days and we got right into it.  But since then our fortune has changed.  We have flown for 1 run in the last 7 days….. and its beginning to drive us insane.  The weather patterns seem totally unpredictable, even by the most seasoned of Alaskan forecasters.  We have given up even checking on them, the only way to go is to look out of the window.

Waterproof is the primary function of modern hiking shoes, hiking boots and waterproof breathability is a sneaker could not match. How to care for and clean climbing shoes, is a science.

War weary, haggard, and torn, the conservative populace of the 1950s grew restless. Tantalized and agitated by a hip-swiveling Elvis Presley and a leggy Marilyn Monroe, sexual tension gripped the West. Like a plugged Old Faithful, men and women yearned to erupt from their oppressive all-natural fibers.

I'm at a loss for words. I figured I could write something here, and then I realized that I have far too much to say. So in regards to this, I will post delightful photos of the events which have occurred the last 2 weeks. I ended up getting this really amazing internship with Malakye.com, this is the incredibly scary overpass I now get to use 8 times a week. Hopefully there are no earthquakes while I am going over this one. I went to the 30 years of Bad Religion concert at the House of Blues in Hollywood. It was an amazing time and they played for over an hour and a half. The 3 page set list was amazing. Another trip to Mammoth. Wondering how much snow is still there? Have a look at the parking lot. Yet it just keeps snowing more and more. read more
