For pros who ply their trade in front of cameras, much of their winter is based around chasing snow. And despite the shortage of snow that plagued much of North America this winter, a crew of athletes and filmers from TGR found plenty of powder during a recent trip to Revelstoke. TGR athletes Nick McNutt, Tim Durtschi, Dylan Hood, and Dane Tudor spent several weeks skiing the area?s legendary pillows?and eating shit. See what went down in this episode of Almost Live Presented by Gore-Tex products. ALMOST LIVE The Almost Live series takes you around the globe with the TGR production team and athletes. Get an inside look at what goes into first descents, building and hitting massive backcountry jumps, traveling throughout the most exotic locales on the planet, and the lives of the worlds top riders. ?Almost Live? plants you on location with our crew. You will be able to track our progress throughout the season, and watch the drama unfold. At the confluence of resorts like Flaine, Samoens, Les Carroz, Sixt, Morillon is an area called 'le Grand Massif' which, unlike most of the Alps this winter, got huge amounts of snow. In the new episode of A La Française, the crew visits Guillaume Harleaux at his home in Les Carroz d'Arache and gets some great helicopter footage of him and his friends attacking the Grand Massif. Every morning when the shelling stops the boys are on it. Aymeric Cloerec and Bertrand Clair join Guillaume for a couple of insane powder days in 60 cm deep snow.
Skiied a couple laps on lolo peak sunday may 25th....despite sticky snow and a broken dynafit heelpiece I had a terrific day!!
After a week skiing deep powder in Hakuba, Japan Jérôme Chanal and Guillaume Harleaux were planning to go to Hokkaido. Then Jérôme kissed a tree and had to get his face stitched up in the emergency room. While he was sitting in the hospital the snow kept falling and by the time he was out there was tons of fresh powder. The only thing to do was get back on the skis and head into the incredible Japanese mountains. The shooting conditions may have been bad but the skiing was awesome. Bask in the famous Niseko powder, which makes wind, cold, relentless snow and even lip stitches seem like very small issues indeed. Would Avalanches and Stitches Stop You from Skiing Powder? Not Jérôme Chanal
Ski season is over in the east... let the real season begin.
2013-14 winter was hands down the best I've had so far! Learned so much, and had lots of great times with great people! Shot ski touring around the Rockies, Kootenay pass, along with Resort at Fernie, Sunshine, and Lake Louise! I'd like to thank my family for raising me as someone who loves and respects the mountains, especially my Dad for teaching me how to ski at such a young age! Also everyone I skied with this season for all the good times! I'd also like to give a shout out to Marty Schaffer for all you've taught me, as well as putting on an unforgettable camp up at Blanket Glacier Chalet this December!
I am an argentinian girl who went to Colorado for the winter and it was awesome!
Candide Thovex and Aziz Benkrich enjoying the last run of the winter. They could not go any further ! One of those days 2 to be released Fall 2014
As winter in the southern hemisphere approaches, I'm getting excited
Took the new steady cam setup out for the first time on snow. I like how it translates. It definitely makes following some one at speed a little easier. Little bit of a longer edit available at: https://vimeo.com/95663922
All of the Roy Boys (Fred, Corey, and Derek) got together for a couple days of backcountry fun in Central Oregon. Day one was a little nasty with some very difficult skiing conditions, but getting out and skiing was still an awesome time. Day two we trekked into Broken Top to ski a couple lines that Fred had been talking about. Spending time in the mountains and sharing that experience with family is one of the best parts about our sport. Even with sub-par snow conditions, these are the days we thrive on.
Had a fun year in Colorado! Here is the best footage of the year from my GoPro. Enjoy and let me know what you think.
For some, skiing is about escaping choices?and for others it is a means for embracing them. This winter, Teton Gravity Research athletes and filmers headed to Sella Nevea, Italy to film for the company?s latest project, Almost Ablaze. Thanks to a storm that dumped over six meters of pow, the iconic ski resort found itself enjoying the most snow in one hundred years. Between all this snow and the resort?s legendary terrain, skiers Colter Hinchliffe, Dash Longe, and Dana Flahr were surrounded by an abundance of options. Steep chutes, cliff faces, open bowls, and wind lips provided the perfect canvas for throwing down. And luckily, this episode of Almost Live Presented by Gore-Tex Products captures the action. Sometimes in life, it doesn?t hurt to be overwhelmed by options. Drop in with TGR! The All Us In Winterland crew have released the first part of their 3 part series, Below The Line. Based on the crew road tripping around BC in two CanaDream RVs they were able to score the goods in many of the resorts.
